Cory Roberts

Cory Roberts

Accompanist, Vacilando
Accompanist, Shumayela

Cory has been involved with music since he was a small child, singing at the age of 4 and playing piano at the age of 5.  At this young age, his mom recognized the musical talent in him and enrolled him into lessons the Royal Conservatory of Music with Brandon University’s Elizabeth Grant. At the age of 11, he spent two summers performing in “The Wizard of Oz” on Rainbow Stage, Canada's largest and longest-running outdoor theatre, in Winnipeg’s Kildonan Park. Through grade school, he grew up under the musical guidance of Michelle Chyzyk of Virden, Manitoba and was a singer in several high school music groups, choirs, ensembles, and musicals.  These included the lead roles of two high school productions (Godspell, Little Shop of Horrors), and a summer job with a government-funded touring singing ensemble “Pride Of Manitoba" (1997-’99).  Cory continued his musical future throughout college with the Providence Singers, under the direction of the late Dr. Henry Schellenberg, which included the lead role, the Lord High Executioner, in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Operetta, “The Mikado” and a summer tour traveling through Great Britain.  Cory graduated with a Fine Arts Bachelor Degree in Performing Arts from Providence University College in Otterburne, Manitoba in 2000.  Cory has had the amazing opportunity to sing and work with some very talented Canadian and International music artists (Chantal Kraviatzuk, Great Big Sea, Rajaton). Cory has been a happily singing member with Oran since 2011 and has also been a member of Nuf Sed of the T.I.M.E. Association. He’s excited to continue working as Accompanist for two of the Korora choirs.
