Tyson Kerr is a stylistically diverse composer, arranger, pianist, organist, singer, and accordionist. In addition to accompanying Òran, Tyson has worked with many choirs and musical groups through his vocal group 6 Minute Warning, jazz quintet The Writers’ Guild, and as a session musician with various artists including Martin Kerr and Jeff Hendrick. His compositions and arrangements have been featured in a number of TED talks, as well as in Youtube series such as Òran member Alexis Hillyard’s Stump Kitchen. Tyson is an honors graduate from the Grant MacEwan University Jazz Program, the University of Toronto Music Program, the Banff Centre for the Arts Creative Music Program, and the recipient of several awards for composition, arranging, and performance. Tyson teaches through the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, a nonprofit afterschool music program that works with underserved youth, and at Grant MacEwan University.
