[kee-kee-MAHS ]

Kokopelli’s auditioned children’s ensemble, Kikimasu (pronounced “kee-kee-mahs”), is celebrating its thirteenth season in 2021-2022. With a focus on Kodaly and Dalcroze music education methodology, the choir fosters beautiful singing and strong musicianship skills in its young members. Kikimasu was featured, alongside Shumayela, at the 2016 Podium conference—Canada’s biennial choral conference—here in Edmonton. The group also placed first in the children’s choir category in the National Music Festival in 2015 and again at the Provincial Excellence level (now the highest level for choirs in our part of the country) in 2019.

Kikimasu is delighted to be planning a return to in-person singing later in the coming 2021-2022 season! We will be following best practices to protect our young singers, and as such, we will be starting off the year with interactive and fun online rehearsals. We will resume in-person activities as soon as pandemic conditions and vaccine availability for this age range allow.

All Kikimasu's artistic staff are fully vaccinated. Kokopelli Choirs also requires that all eligible Kikimasu members participating in-person be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and will require confirmation of vaccination for members born 2010 or later once vaccines are available for this age range (allowing a reasonable timeline to acquire the needed doses).

Share in the joy of singing as we learn new music, play singing games, build our singing and musicianship skills, enjoy rhythm and movement, and more!

The choir is a safe place for my child to sing her heart out and develop her skills.

Sing with us!

Kikimasu's conductor, Ms. So, has created an audition video. To audition, we will ask your child to submit their own video audition using that as a template. This way, they can practice on their own and be in control of what they finally submit for their audition!

Kikimasu rehearses Wednesdays from 5-6:45 PM at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 8424 95 Ave NW.
As of late August 2021, we are planning to start off Kikimasu's season online and start in-person rehearsal as soon as we can.

Please note that bursaries are available, and we make every effort to ensure that financial considerations never preclude a qualified singer from being part of the choir!
