Kokopelli Academy is presenting two mini-courses—conducting and arranging—open to anyone. A great opportunity for any choral enthusiast who wants to expand their horizons or boost their skills!

Introductory Elements of Choral Conducting

Learn to wave your arms with purpose and panache! In this two-session course, Maestros Cable and Denis will take you through the basics of choral conducting: patterns, cut-offs, entrances, cues, rits/accels, articulation, etc. More advanced students (i.e. music teachers, conductors) are also welcome! Students must attend both sessions in full. 

Prerequisite: Basic music reading (time signatures, keys, rhythms, treble and bass clefs) 
Minimum enrollment: 8 students 
Maximum enrollment: 12 students 

Basics of Choral Arranging

Transform your favorite song from the radio into the newest choral hit! In this two-session course, one of Kokopelli's most prolific arrangers, Jennifer McMillan, will introduce you to the techniques and tools she uses when penning her own choral arrangements. The second session will include a reading session of the arrangement you've produced (and you get to keep the recording, too!) Students must attend both sessions in full. 

Prerequisite: RCM Theory Grade Two or equivalent (comfortable with scales, major and minor key signatures, intervals, triads, dominant seventh chords, perfect/plagal/deceptive cadences, rhythmic notation, time signatures, basic musical terminology, dynamic markings, and both treble and bass clef.) 
Minimum enrollment: 8 students 
Maximum enrollment: 12 students
